Acknowledging a dramatic site by taking advantage of the topography, the design creates an architectural promenade that culminates in elevated views to Dundas St. & Lake Ontario.  

The building is connected to the existing Student Services building on three of five levels and acts as a campus gateway. It contains a campus store with academix offices and teaching spaces above.  

The main building is conceived as a collection of crisp glass and metal volumes linked together by a 500 foot long, two storey wood-lined atrium that gestures to the street with a dramatic cantilevered board room.   

Located in a suburban residential neighborhood, Surrey's new 156,000 square foot central operations centre is a phased project that completely rebuilds the existing works yard campus with no interruption to its operations. 

Setting a new design standard for this under-appreciated typology, this project acts as civic landmark celebrating those who maintain the community's physical infrastructure.
